Use of Information

We will collect personal information (including full name, address and contact details) so that we may administer our customer relationships and provide clients with the products and services they request. This information is held at our offices. If at any time you wish to have access to, or correct any of, the information obtained with your permission, please contact us. We may be allowed or obliged to disclose information by law, eg: under Court Orders or Statutory Notices pursuant to taxation laws. We may also disclose personal/business information to other financial institutions and organisations at their request if you seek to obtain products and/or services from them. Personal/business information may also be disclosed to:

  • Professionals including but not limited to solicitors, accountants, mortgage brokers, and stockbrokers when a referral is required, at your request and;

  • If you have insurance, those involved in the insurance process including but not limited to claims investigators, medical practitioners, re-insurers, insurance reference agencies.

  • If I intend to sell my business, any prospective purchaser of my business.

  • The Financial Markets Authority and/or any other regulatory body as required for audit purposes.

What we collect
Identity, contact, financial, insurance, and (with your authority) health information about you and your dependants together with any information needed to verify your identity under the AML/CFT Act 2009. We collect this from you, and from third parties such as insurers, medical practitioners, and identity-verification providers.

Why we collect it
To provide you with financial advice and related services, place and manage insurance cover, assess claims, comply with our legal and regulatory obligations (including under
the FMCA 2013 and AML/CFT Act 2009), and manage our ongoing relationship with you. If you choose not to provide the information requested, we may be unable to provide
advice or arrange cover.

Who we share it with
Insurers, reinsurers, underwriters, and claims assessors; medical practitioners (with your authority); our staff and authorised body advisers; our IT, cloud, CRM, identity verification, AML screening, and professional service providers; our dispute resolution scheme; and regulators or other parties where required or authorised by law.

Sending information overseas
Some of our service providers and product providers are located, or store information,
outside New Zealand (including in Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union). We only send personal information overseas where the recipient is subject to comparable privacy protections, is contractually required to protect the information to a comparable standard, or you have authorised the disclosure on an
informed basis, as required by Information Privacy Principle 12.

How we protect and retain it
We hold information in secure physical and electronic systems and apply appropriate access controls, encryption, staff training, and contractual safeguards. We retain records for as long as we need them and as required by law — typically at least seven years for
advice and AML/CFT records.

Your rights
You have the right to ask us what personal information we hold about you, to request access to it, and to request correction if it is inaccurate. You can also withdraw consent
for marketing communications at any time.
